Retro Mystra and Rover by Mystra-Inc Retro Mystra and Rover by Mystra-Inc
Decided to do the retro pic for fun!

I love retro cartoon artists, like Shane Glines, although I've never tried to do that sort of style properly before with character work. I leave it to the experts lol...

So I see this as a little homage to those artists, and a little exercise in trying different styles. We get pin-up girl Mystra with a super goofy Rover!

PS, I guarantee to tart this up and submit as some luv-erly Valentines Day type art lol...

Lovely work with vectors :0
I've never known how to use them.
I like the retro feel and the sketch was great as well!

thanks, i used to be obsessed with vector, then i got bored with them, but i think that was because I wasn't using them well enough. Now i've had practice with other sorts of digital art, it can revist vector work with a fresh attitude :)

they are simple to use, but very tricky to really master, there are some amazing vector artists out there, they will do a picture in vector, but you would think it was a photo! insane!

Sounds amazing :D

How do you use Vectors, anyway? I work with Painter and Photoshop but haven't found a facility for them as of yet.

if you want to try out vectors, best program is Illustrator, perhaps download a trial off the Adobe site if you don't already have it.

It's a bit like using the pen tool in Photoshop, you create points and adjust them to create the lines, shapes etc etc it's smoother t use Illustrator than Photoshop for that sort of thing i find.

Vectors don't go pixelly if blown up a million percent, unlike a rastor image too. So they are popular with designers who might do a lot of large work ie for ads and stuff outside. Say if i wanted to put a pic i'd painted in photoshop, it would only get so big before becoming distorted, vectors as a rule don't do that.

Thank you so much for the advice!

I like the idea of Illustrator, and Vectors in general. It almost seems like graphic design, sculpting a piece bit by bit rather than sketching it out.
